Product Details
With Volkswagen/Audi's introduction of the MQB EA888 Gen3 1.8T/2.0T engine came multiple advancements in technology and production. Significant weight savings were accomplished through molded plastic parts throughout the powertrain; unfortunately, this included the engine's oil pan. With no protection to cover such an important, yet fragile part, it's easy to see why a plastic oil pan needs protection!
For the daily driver at stock height or the enthusiast with an aggressive suspension drop, our ECS Aluminum Street Shield adds peace of mind and protection against potholes, road debris and other predators looking to put a hole in your pan.
Protect your vitals with our ECS Tuning in-house engineered Aluminum Street Shield Skid Plate Kit. Constructed from 3/16" (4.76mm) thick 5052 aluminum and weighing in at only 16.15 lbs, with factory modeled air ventilation, our skid plate is sure to stand up to harsh road conditions that your OEM plastic belly pan could not.
Additionally, the ECS skid plate encompasses the full length of the engine undercarriage from the front bumper cover to the front engine subframe to provide complete protection. Conveniently this kit includes zinc-coated steel subframe hardware, aluminum skid plate spacers and all factory mounting hardware for easy installation.
Engineered and manufactured in the USA, you can expect nothing but the best performance and longevity with our superior Aluminum Street Shield Skid Plate Kit from ECS Tuning!
* Designed to fit common MQB applications with manual transmission, 6 speed DSG/S-Tronic (DQ250), 8 speed Tiptronic, 7 speed DSG/S-Tronic (DQ381) transmission types.

Top Notch Upgrade
My MK7 GTI didn't come with belly pan so it made the upgrade an easy choice to make. Upon arrival, I was surprised by the weight and size of the Street Shield, looks as though it will offer some serious protection. Installation was a breeze. The only hang up I had was threading the 3 M8 bolts into the rear of the shield into the subframe, I would recommend running a tap through the holes before even trying to thread in the bolts and use anti seize before tightening them down.

Engine pan protection
This skid plate is pretty thick that you don't have to worry about breaking your engine oil pan. I recommend it to anyone with the plastic composite engine oil pan.
