How Does It Work?

The Unitronic FeatureBox or UniFLEX Module act as a bridge between your vehicle and mobile device, seamlessly connecting to the factory soundaktor harness beneath the rain tray to inject a signal directly into the CAN-bus network with its included plug-n-play wiring harness. Paired with the UAF Control app, it puts advanced functionality at your fingertips in an intuitive and user-friendly interface.

New Functionality for 6MT Vehicles

For North American MK8 GTI and Golf R owners, Unitronic has gone one step further by adding Standing Adjustable Launch Control, No-Lift-Shift (NLS), and Rolling Launch Control (RLC) into UAF — an industry first.

Standing Launch Control helps deliver consistent launches from a stop with full control over boost and launch RPM set points. No-Lift-Shift allows you to stay on the throttle through gear changes for smoother and quicker acceleration while Rolling Launch Control rounds it out by letting you build boost and put power down from a roll.

These exciting new features give 6-speed manual customers the chance to experience their vehicles in a whole new way, whether on track or during spirited driving. Note: Unitronic recommends a clutch upgrade for maximum longevity.

To activate NLS on 6-speed MK8 GTI and Golf R models, ensure the engine is fully warmed up, then perform a full-throttle acceleration. Once the engine speed exceeds 5500 RPM, you can shift gears without lifting off the throttle.

Advanced Traction Control

Unitronic is also proud to integrate Advanced Traction Control into its Advanced Feature suite for 2.0TSI EVO4 enthusiasts. This new functionality gives drivers the ability to fine-tune traction control intervention with customizable settings at your fingertips. Now you can decide exactly how much torque is permitted during traction control engagement, tailoring the system to match your driving style, traction levels, and other conditions.

Advanced Traction Control allows independent adjustments for each gear and drive mode, giving you the flexibility to set an aggressive setup in Sport or Race modes on track days or dial in more intervention in Comfort mode for the street, with full control over how the system responds to slip. This added flexibility not only enhances performance and confidence but it also ensures you’re always getting the most out of your vehicle, in any situation.

Pops and Bangs (Exhaust Overrun)

With UAF, enthusiasts are no longer limited by default exhaust overrun (pop and bangs) settings either. Now you can dial in your pops and bangs with full control over duration and intensity. Whether you prefer to keep it low-key or turned up for a more pronounced sound, you have the freedom to choose how your pops and bangs behave with UAF.

Standing / Rolling Launch Control

Standing Launch Control parameters can also be dialed in with user-adjustable RPM and boost set points. Going one step further, Unitronic has also integrated custom code to enable Rolling Launch Control with user-adjustable boost set points as well. With all preconditions met, users can hold the cruise control minus (-) button to latch the desired launch RPM, then apply full throttle to begin building boost. Once ready to launch the vehicle, users can release the minus (-) button and the vehicle will begin to accelerate rapidly.

Engine Protection Measures

Unitronic has also built in plenty of failsafes and safety mechanisms into its Advanced Features to protect the engine and its components as much as possible. Unitronic has even incorporated refresh timers into its ECU code, utilizing the OEM Virtual Cockpit Torque Gauge to display 15-second countdown before RLC becomes available for reactivation, for example. Additionally, during RLC activation, the torque gauge will show a 5-second countdown during RLC activation before the function times out. Certain preconditions apply for specific functions to activate, while other criteria can also prevent them from engaging. See guide below.
