This clip snaps onto the steering knuckle abutment or brake caliper bracket. Used to provide a smooth channel for disc brake pads to ride in and to reduce vibration and rattling.
From the factory these clips were not on all vehicles. There was a TSB which Audi added the shim to prevent squealing in the front brakes. There are 3 versions of the brake shim. This one is the small casting lip version 2.
