The oil filter keeps contaminants from making their way through your engine and causing premature wear and possible failure. Those small metal particles, if not trapped by the filter, would abrade all moving metal to metal connections within the engine and wear out components quickly. Filter out all of those terrible contaminants and make sure they do not get back in. This filter also includes the sealing o-rings for the oil filter housing.
